The costal areas of Puglia are generally low and sandy or
rocky.
They are sandy north of the Gargano, along the Gulf of
Manfredonia almost up to Barletta, and for large stretches up to
Ostuni and the Salento coast and in the Gulf of
Taranto.
They are also predominantly sandy to the Salento coast, but
there are also vast rocky stretches.
Near the coast, the bottom of the sea, its depth and the aspect
of the marine waters, are in close relation with the nature of
the coastal area.
It is possibile to bathe in relation to ones own preferences
enjoying broad sandy shores. The main beaches to visit are Torre
Canne and Marina di Ostuni where you can bathe in fantastic
inlets and enchanting bays.
The protected marine Area and Natural Reserve of the Torre
Guaceto area (near Ostuni-Carovigno) encloses a
precious stretch of uncontaminated coastline which is full of
charm and where time seems to stand still.
